CALL OUT: Associate Artist (all artforms welcome)
GL4 is looking for an Associate Artist to work with communities and young people.
– £3450 fixed fee - Commitment: 10-15 days from March-June 2026
Deadline for applications: Sunday 22nd February 5pm
About GL4
GL4 is a community interest company based in Matson. We have three core stands of work, live events, Youth Participation and Community Engagement. We believe creativity and the arts should be easily accessible to all.
About the role
The role spans two exciting forthcoming projects at GL4:
-
In March you will work alongside visiting artist Jessica Wilson and a photographer for three days delivering I See You Like This, a project that lets primary school pupils co-create portraits of their parents and carers. While here, Jessica will lead a half-day co-creation masterclass for GL4 facilitators and artists which you will be paid to attend as part of developing your role.
-
You will then work alongside GL4 and our Youth Advisory Board to recruit and develop a new collective of young artists across Matson, Robinswood and White City. You will lead this group in a series of site-specific creative workshops followed by a final intervention as part of a Youth Advisory Board led event in June.
We are excited to hear from artists with different artforms, or who work in multiple disciplines including (but not limited to) 2d, 3d and 4d visual arts, performance, text, sound or environmental work. A commitment to engaging with young people of all ages on themes and issues that are important to them is more important than any specific artistic outcome and we are looking forward to hearing how artists might use their different practices in different ways.
There is a fee of £3450 for an expected commitment of 10-15 days between March and June 2026.
There is an additional materials budget of £500 associated with the young artists collective, alongside support from GL4 in developing, producing and delivering the project.

You must be aged 18+ to apply.
How to apply
We are committed to creating a team which is representative of the diverse communities we work with and bringing together those with a variety of skills and experiences, to help shape what we do and how we work. We welcome all applications but would like to emphasise that we welcome applications from people based in or near Matson, who identify as D/deaf and/or disabled, neurodivergent, Global Majority and/or working class.
To apply, please email Hector MacInnes, hector@gl4.org, for a full artist’s brief / application pack or with any questions you might have about the role or the application process. Application will be by a short expression of interest form that can be responded to in writing, audio or video, followed by a brief interview process for shortlisted artists.
